Isabelle Rozenbaum set out to record the visible traces of our desire to communicate, which we express in the symbols of our cities, symbols which she has approached with a fresh perspective. Her photographs offer us moments of social interaction; they are media, messages and codes at the same time, faithfully passing on meaning and highlighting the links between those who send and those who receive these messages. The surreptitious art which reveals what our eye normally glides over gives us pause and food for thought. Isabelle Rozenbaum, by offering us this huge canvass of the signs and symbols of our everyday existence, helps us to grasp their relevance and to enjoy them as so many ephemeral, precise and touching indicators of our values and expectations.
